If you included these options, including your original version, you would win this subscriber! I have to stick with 3. I care just about sound quality and stability. After many tests with my budget but good for me system I found the best settings for me, my room, my ears, my equipement; as, ks, no upsampling just DoP 1. Is bit perfect? Who cares?

Sounds good for me? Is stable? Except few bugs like crashing when playing some podcasts yes. So I will stay with AS at least until I will found a better solution. And I like the interface with big fonts. Now back to music. I think this discussion or similar will never end.

Both 3. I also do not believe that either AS or A3. You say that otherwise people should learn to configure Foobar. There are other players in the market, once Audirvana is not supported by your OS. Amarra and JRiver are very decent players. JRiver as a server is still a very good option. DLNA is a viable protocol depending on both the server and renderer implementation. It gets a bad press from some because of some dodgy implementations at either end.

It has been around for well over 10 years and its audio side sees little change, primarily because its all there nothing left to change. The other major element to Jriver is their agile approach to programming.

I was looking for modern audio software that would run on very old computers like Pentium 4 with Ram not more than 1 GB and no Pea instructions processors.

Audacious was working on newest version of Linux Zorin Lite playing radio streams all kind of formats including Flac MotherEarth radio station. Why to throw away old PC if it is running Linux for old hardware with ease. Perfect to play radio streams. Thats why I am not interested in those radio stations built inn Audirvana and Roon Roon has one kind of on demand radio station that is playing same MQA encoded music from little jazz concert.

I found only this feed to be interesting. I like to find on the web my own addresses of radio streams and use either VLC or Audacious to play them. Every 10th track is classical music being specially played for you! Foobar, Firefox browser or special windows app with link to download is listed on radio station website containing only one page, but very useful and simple same as current version of Audirvana.

I am going to post here some info about solving difficulties to play within Audirvana rips from very good sounding MQA Cds which are already popular in Japan and believe me they sound great, very deep and dynamic.

Audirvana is playing them and Roon as one piece album no split between tracks. Where Roon is playing them right away but they have to be kind of renamed using simple tool app downloaded from official MQA website in order to play these rips in Audirvana.

App is free to download and require only register with that website. I introduced aurdirvana at one time in a hi-fi audio internet cafe and joined more than people. It is much more stable and the sound quality is good. Dogs do not abandon their young. But audirvana abandoned 3. Using Audirvana Mike I have the same observations as you! But I am trying to be positive because I like music and technology and progress that is being made by all this I believe hard working people.

Now we playing from cloud etc. Jriver is my favorite interface app in audio mode only switchable in upper view menu. In option settings it is very easy to turn DSD capability. No MQA opposite to Audirvana. This is best legal source of Hi res formats that I know. Very well organized with lot of great recordings. No illegal info on this forum. Lets keep it clean! Audirvana is playing them no problem no need changing and adjusting any settings like Jriver. J river needs some experience. Audirvana is simple ready to go easy package with excellent sound.

If you are serious audiophile I would recommend to try to play those formats downloaded from that mentioned website. In my opinion DSD sounds more natural and analog. It is closest digital format with very dynamic sound of your vinyl collection magnified tremendously. Some other recordings are ok but those that your jaw is dropping is not so many.

You are right to be angry, I was very angry when Adobe started first to provide Subscription scheme. Everything is subscription based and Jriver is providing new versions also every year and you have to pay every year for upgrade.

I use it only for a single professional software that does not exist on Mac. If there is a new Covi confinement, I may try to install Foobar on my Dell and try to configure it, just for the fun. Thank you also for the link to the download site. I then went to Qobuz which I had only used to buy downloads from previously. But I soon realized that Qobuz player was not great with Win 10 and I tended to lose the connection to my music when I changed from Qobuz to JRiver and back.

I had had on and off connection issues with JRiver previously but had ploughed on because I liked the sound - kernel streaming etc. But looking around I discovered that Audirvana came with Qobuz support, and after installation of the 3.

Apart from the sound quality, what impressed me was the ability to change from Qobuz to my own NAS music and back without any problems whatsoever. Mo more disconnects. On Thursday, I was about to buy the software when I learned that soon Audirvana 3. Now would it be worth it to buy the stand-alone installed 3.

While I was wavering, the software purchase option was removed, so when I tried to access the page on Friday, I was unable to buy the stand-alone software.

I like the interface and sound quality of Audirvana 3. But is that worth getting onto the wheel of subscription for? When I use my PC, its just because I need to use one of two professional applications that are necessary for my work and that are better than anything existing on Mac. It happens to me once or twice a year. By the way, I use these specialized tools on a subscription model, and the cost of the subscription is more than Euros per month for each application! But I think that configuring Foobar should be an interesting by itself and a pleasant way for me to familiarize with the architecture of the PC platform.

I play with Audirvana purely for variety, like having multiple sets of headphones, tubes or wire. Its only for the sake of the hobby and for the occasional change. But I guess some people like the variety of playing different formats. To each there own I guess.

There is some music that is available for download in one particular format and it is impossible to find it in the same format all the time.
